Whatever you age or fitness level, if you’re new or returning to exercise after a break we can help by designing a programme of exercise unique to you, your interests and ability.
It’s never too late to start
Recent evidence has shown that middle-aged or older adults who take up regular, moderate intensity exercise have a 23% reduced risk of a heart attack compared to those who don’t. Hence, the health benefits are available whatever your age or fitness history.
It’s not about pumping-iron in the gym
At futureproof fitness, exercise isn’t always about vigorous activity, getting sweaty, discomfort and breathlessness. For clients new to fitness a low to moderate level of exercise, with gradual progression, may be preferable. Indeed, it’s clinically proven that the health benefits of exercise are available at a level of effort far below that associated with intense training or playing sport - great news for new starters. |
We take the view that ‘exercise’ is just part of a bigger picture of ‘physical activity’. In doing so, we open up a much wider range of training options to you than traditional gym-going can offer.
As ‘physical activity’ can encompass any bodily movement which expends energy, training can now be more about what you enjoy doing and what’s convenient to you.
When we design your futureproof fitness plan, we’ll not only incorporate personal training but we’ll integrate physical activity into certain aspects of your daily life or leisure pursuits such as walking to work, gardening, walking the dog or housework - all modified to produce a training effect yet still enjoyable and able to fit into your current routine.
